The Department for Education (DfE) has funded nine projects nationally under the Alternative Provision Innovation Fund (APIF).

Bradford AP Academy is one of the providers in receipt of this fund to support children to re-integrate into mainstream school placements after accessing alternative provision.

The Bradford based project has been designed to support young people who have been permanently excluded from school or are accessing an intervention placement before re-integration into mainstream education.

Key Workers

The APIF Project work will primarily focus on Key Worker support for pupils, parents/carers and schools.

The multi-disciplinary team of four Key Workers will promote re-integration and intervention, aiming to improve the rates of successful transfer to mainstream settings.

This work will consist of:

- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis, coaching and mentoring prior to school placement.

- Organising transition arrangements and continuing support once school placement has begun.

- Building links with parents/carers to support the re-integration process.

- Assisting with any referral processes to other agencies as appropriate.
